HUMANE ACTION Pittsburgh's ultimate goal is for Pittsburgh to become America's Model Humane City. In our eyes, that journey begins by a Proclamation recognizing that all animals are sentient beings with biological needs and physical and psychological sensibilities to experience positive emotions, negative emotions, and pain. Once a Proclamation is in place, our city must examine how animals in our city are treated to ensure we are meeting the expectations made in our Proclamation. In turn, laws must be created and amended to accommodate any changes that are required for our actions to align with our Proclamation, such as protecting exotic animals, companion animals, farm animals, wildlife animals, and others. America's Model Humane City is one that constantly adapts and strives to be the leader in the evolving world of animal protection... and we believe Pittsburgh can and should be that city.
